New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an award-winning not-for-profit agency in Midtown Manhattan, with a satellite Bronx office, dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexity, chronic health conditions, significant disabilities and behavioral challenges. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking an Autism Program Assistant to join its Peter Haje Center for Autism.

The Autism Program Assistant will report to the Associate Director of The Peter Haje Center for Autism and work out of the new state of the art Comprehensive Healthcare Center (CHC) located at New Alternatives for Children, Inc. NAC’s on-site CHC includes Article 31 and Article 28 clinics and delivers a range of integrated interdisciplinary medical and mental health services. The hallmark of the agency is assuring quality professional and strength-based services to children and families involved in the child welfare system.

Department/Program: The Peter Haje Center for Autism at New Alternatives for Children is one of many programs within NAC’s Mental Health Clinic, as part of the Comprehensive Healthcare Clinic. NAC’s Mental Health Clinic provides a full range of psychiatric and psychological services, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy. NAC provides ABA therapy as part of its Family Centered Treatment approach. Parents and caregivers are critical contributors to treatment, and valued members of each ABA treatment team.

Description of Responsibilities:

• Coordinate sessions/schedules for ASD Program services
• Create forms/templates for ASD Program
• Assist in ASD Program enrollment procedures
• Track, Schedule and follow-up with consultations
• Maintain client records, including attendance and data tracking
• Track and order supplies, as needed
• Attend networking/community events, as necessary
• Work 1:1 with clients, as necessary
• Assist in Social Skills Groups
• Attend Social Skills Group outings, as necessary
• Assist in preparation of materials for ongoing trainings
• Assist with other assigned tasks deemed necessary to support and expand ASD Program.

Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field.
• Ideal position for those in ABA degree programs
• A minimum of 6 months experience working in an administrative role.
• A minimum of 3 months experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy preferred, but not required.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) preferred, but not required.
Required Skills:
• High proficiency in using Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Effective communication with staff and clients
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and seek help when needed.
• Experience working with a variety of individuals is highly preferred.
