Job Summary:
Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) will use rehabilitation interventions individualized, collaborative, hands-on training to build developmentally appropriate skills for child/youth in care. The intent is to promote personal independence, autonomy, and mutual supports by developing and strengthening the individual’s independent community living skills and support community integration in the domains of employment, housing, education, in both personal and community life. The services provided will restore, rehabilitate, and support a child’s/youth’s developmentally appropriate functioning as necessary for the integration of the child/youth as an active and productive member of their family and community with the goal of achieving minimal on-going professional intervention. Applicants are required to work flexible schedule, including a minimum of one weekend day each week.

Duties & Responsibilities:
As a valuable member of an interdisciplinary team provide psychosocial rehabilitative services to children/youth.
Assist the child/youth to develop and apply skills in natural settings.
Foster and promote the development of skills identified in assessment or through the ongoing treatment of a licensed practitioner.
Deliver services in a trauma informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner.
Provide services to children/youth within the context of each child’s treatment plan.
Provide child/youth with social and interpersonal skills with the goal to restore, rehabilitate, and support.
Establish support networks, build and enhance personal relationships for child/youth
Develop coping strategies and effective functioning in the individual’s social environment, including home, work and school locations.
Support the effect of the child’s diagnosis and reestablish daily functioning skills and personal autonomy skills including but not limited to learning self-care, developing personal interests, managing medication and treatments, learning about community resources, and good health routines.
Assist the individual with generalizing coping strategies and social interpersonal skills in a community setting
Assist individual with effectively responding to or avoiding identified pre cursors or triggers which may result in functional impairments.
Provide training on social etiquette and develop self-regulatory skills including anger management.
Required to work flexible schedule, including a minimum of one weekend day each week.


Ability to interact with and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Positions in Lower Hudson Valley require a valid, non-restricted, driver’s license and ability to drive.
Communicate effectively
Ability to understand and use Micro-soft word and Excel
Ability to interact with community resources
Ability to travel within the community

Education & Experience
High School Diploma required. High school equivalency preferred, or a State Education Commencement Credential with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in children’s mental health, addition and/or foster care OR

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or in related human services; OR

Master’s degree in social work psychology or in related human services
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds.

Must be able to use a computer, type, telephone and other office equipment.
