Position Overview: The Learning Specialist will serve as a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Safe Crisis Management (SCM) instructor and will facilitate other trainings as required by the needs of the agency. The specialist will help design and facilitate in-person and virtual training programs, provide project management and support for major training projects and deliver training sessions (i.e. new hire orientation, crisis management, compliance, etc.) within and across the agency. The Specialist will also conduct training on site and in the community. The Learning Specialist, while under the direct guidance and support of the Director of Learning will hold a key role on the Learning and Talent Development team, supporting both professional development and compliance training for staff across the agency. Travel required.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

Adheres to all Agency and departmental Safety Procedures including reporting any unsafe practices, equipment and environment, and takes an active role in correcting the unsafe practice, equipment or environment through proper notification.

Primary Responsibilities
Training/Learning Design, Delivery and Support

Serves as a TCI instructor for the agency.
Conducts TCI initial and refresher trainings, virtually and in-person
Supports and co-leads with instructors for initial and refresher courses on and off-site locations.
Provides feedback or recommends updates for curriculum and lesson plans as needed.

Serves as a SCM instructor for the agency.
Conduct SCM initial and refresher trainings in-person and virtually.
Supports and co-leads with instructors for initial and refresher courses on and off-site locations.
Provides feedback or recommends updates for curriculum and lesson plans as needed.

Conducts and supports schedule for initial and refresher trainings on site and in the community.

Serves as a trainer in The Children's Village Orientation and Training (CVOT) and other courses as needed.

Upload rosters into the learning management system (CVU)

Support campus and community based training programs

Manage compliance reporting and updates regularly

Maintain areas of training specialty based on program and agency need

Prepares for and instruct assigned classes, workshops, refresher courses and career development instruction as needed including the use and set up of required technology.

Coordinate special trainings with instructor team, manage course registration in CVU, schedule delivery at on and off site locations.

Continuously develop and strengthen presentation skills and other necessary skills to remain effective including design, delivery and evaluation of courses. Contribute to new curricula.

Make material and course improvement recommendations based on staff feedback, committee suggestions and other agency needs.

Assist with development of training plans, learning maps, assessments, evaluations and learning aides including the use of paperless resources and technology.

Provide team assessments, conduct team building or program specific trainings.

Setting up and breaking down training rooms
Preparing needed materials and other resources

Promote The Children's Village Training Program on campus and off campus through contacts, promotions and other activities.

Program Liaison

Serve as a program liaison for one or more campus and/or community based programs.
Conduct needs assessments
Conduct required trainings and professional development trainings
Oversight of training compliance for specified programs
Support during program audits
Management of Post CVOT and Onboarding program and follow through
Report out training requirements, updates and provide booster trainings as necessary
Attend quarterly team meetings

Secondary Responsibilities
Learning Department Operation

Assist with the registration, attendance and evaluation of training programs including data in and out of CVU.

Participate as a member of designated committees (Safety, LGBTQ, etc.) to achieve company-wide training objectives.

Assist in the general operation of the Learning Department.

Assist with the preparation of the annual training schedule and reports

Assist in the scheduling of training programs both on and off campus.

Support the maintenance of individual training records and the data base information system.

Assist with carrying out departmental goals and objectives.

Other duties as necessary.

Reporting Relationships:

The Learning Specialist reports directly to the Director of Learning and Talent Development.

Position Qualifications:

High School Diploma/(GED) with 4 (5) years child welfare experience and 2 (3) years training experience. Associates Degree with 2 years training experience in the field. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Psychology, Education, Organizational Development or other related field with 1 (2) year training experience. Must be creative and positive. Strong planning, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrates excellent communication and presentation skills. Demonstrates professionalism and is a team player. Strong writing skills a plus. Residential treatment experience and certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and/or Safe Crisis Management highly preferred. Other certifications (CPR, defensive driving instruction etc.) desirable.

Training Requirements to Attain Position:
Children’s Village Orientation and Training (CVOT).

Training Requirements to Maintain Position:
TCI – Maintain certification as a TCI trainer.
SCM – Maintain certification as a SCM trainer.
HIV (1), Health (1), Safety (1), Client’s Rights (1) Sexual Harassment and other agency trainings (1)
Computer training courses.
Other courses as necessary.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Ability to read, write and converse in English.
Ability to communicate with staff, residents, families, vendors, support agencies and others.
