Hope For Youth, Inc. provides 24-hour residential care, foster care, and preventive and out-patient services to children, youth and families. Residential and foster care services are licensed by New York State Office of Children and Family Services; our out-patient clinic is licensed by New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.

Hope For Youth’s has openings for Full-time and Part-time Residential Counselors (direct care staff) in its residential services programs with locations in Amityville, Babylon, Bay Shore, Farmingdale and Seaford with various shifts.

To be a successful Residential Counselor/Direct Care Worker you must always:

Function within the policies and procedures as outlined in the program practice guide and employee manual, including regularly scheduled and recorded room checks.
Supervise and support residents using the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model without the need for therapeutic holds
Resolve resident issues and complaints
Achieve positive outcomes for residents (shared by unit team)
Adhere to state regulations and applicable code of conduct
Other child and youth support and care, as needed
Residential Counselors / Direct Care Staff will spend their time in this job:

90% supporting youth (including documentation, laundry (wash, fold and store), cleaning, transport to appointments, supervise recreational activities, etc.).
10% staff meetings/supervision/training.
To qualify as a Residential Counselor / Direct Care worker you need to have:

High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing
Physical Requirements (Operate a motor vehicle carrying up to ten (10) children and youth, Lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds, Escort children and youth into the community using stairs when necessary, Physically restrain a child or youth during a crisis situation, Read/write reports and log entries)
Support other projects and locations, as needed
Ability to work flexible schedule, various locations
$500 Hire Bonus: $250 paid at hire, $250 after 6 months of service (rehires not eligible for bonus)
