    Job Description:

    ACTION for Child Protection is a national training and consulting organization. Our focus is on providing high quality education and technical assistance services directed at improving case practice and decision making in child welfare programs. ACTION is recruiting individuals to facilitate learning programs in collaboration with the Administration for Children’s Services’ (ACS) Workforce Institute (WI) at one or more of the ACS WI’s locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and/or Staten Island. The ACS WI is a state-of-the-art professional development institute that strengthens skills and provides support to child welfare and juvenile justice frontline staff as they strengthen and support New York City’s families and children. Through partnership with the City University of New York, the ACS Workforce Institute offers professional learning initiatives that move beyond the classroom to enhance skill development for new and seasoned ACS and provider agency staff. Examples of learning programs for which facilitators are being recruited include:  Building Coaching Competency  Advanced Coaching (Skill Refreshers)  Building Coaching Competency for Senior Administrators  Motivational Interviewing: Strength Based Engagement  Motivational interviewing: Engaging Families with Repeat Involvement in the Child Welfare System  Motivational Interviewing: Engaging Girls and Young Women  Motivational Interviewing: Engaging Fathers  Safety and Risk: Investigation, Synthesis, and Assessment  Engaging Parents with Cognitive and Other Developmental Limitations  Case Review for Managers: Synthesizing Information  Child Sexual Abuse: Protective Strategies  Using Case History to Inform and Strengthen Practice Qualifications:  Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field  Child welfare training experience  Sensitivity to and experience working with diverse cultural and linguistic populations  Minimum of 2 years of public and/or private agency experience working within a child welfare or juvenile justice system  Live in or in close proximity to New York City Preferred Skills: Facilitators must be able to independently deliver learning programs; follow developed curricula; demonstrate strong communication, group engagement, group facilitation, and time management skills related to covering all required material. Ideal candidates will have experience working from a coaching mindset, from a strengths based perspective, with cultural humility and with expertise in trauma informed practice.
